MediaTek unveiled a new gaming-oriented chipset for entry-level phones (and possibly some of the more affordable mid-rangers). The MediaTek Helio G70 is built on the same 12nm process as the G90 but scales back on the computational resources.
MediaTek Helio P60 Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) is a more advanced version of big.LITTLE technology. In this setup, a processor can utilize all cores at the same time, or just a single core for low-intensity tasks. This can provide powerful performance or increased battery life respectively. The GPU that comes with Helio P60 is the Mali-G72 GPU which is less powerful when compared with the likes of Adreno 509 on the 14nm Snapdragon 636. Some extra features include Mobile APU (AI Processing Unit), MediaTek Corepilot 4.0 As for the MediaTek Helio P70, we have the same octa-core arrangement and also the same GPU. Mediatek Helio G80. The Mediatek Helio G80 is a mainstream ARM SoC for smartphones (mainly Android based) that was introduced in 2020.It is manufactured in a 12 nm FinFET process and integrates 8. Tecno Spark 5 Pro 4/64 GB Screen (6.8 ', IPS, 1640 x720) / MediaTek Helio G60 (2.0 GHz + 1.7 GHZ) / main quad camera: 16 MP + 8 MP + MP + 2 MP, front camera: 8 MP / RAM 4 GB / 128 GB integrated memory + microSD (up to 256 GB) / 3 G / LTE / GPS / 2 x support.
The chip houses two Cortex-A75 cores at 2GHz, plus six A55 cores. The Helio G90 has a similar setup, though it uses newer A76 cores, which are faster at the same clock speed than the A75. Only eMMC 5.1 is supported, meaning phones with the G70 will not have fast UFS storage.
Heading over to the graphics department, the chip features Mali-G52 2EEMC2 running at 820Mhz. Display resolution can be up to 1080p, tall aspect ratios up to 21:9 are supported.
CorePilot is in charge of providing consistent performance even during extended gaming sessions by controlling the CPU and GPU clock speeds. The Voice on Wakeup feature enables voice assistants with minimal power use.
Helio G70 | Helio G90 | |
CPU big cores | 2x Cortex-A75 at 2.0GHz | 2x Cortex-A76 at 2.05GHz |
CPU little cores | 6x Cortex-A55 at 1.7GHz | 6x Cortex-A55 at 2.05GHz |
GPU | Mali-G52 2EEMC2 | Mali-G76 3EEMC4 |
RAM | Up to 8GB LPDDR4x | Up to 10GB LPDDR4x |
Storage | eMMC 5.1 | UFS 2.1, eMMC 5.1 |
Display | 1080p, 21:9 | 1080p, 21:9 |
Cameras | 48MP or 16+16MP | 64MP or 24+16MP |
Video recording | 1080p/60fps | 2160p/60fps |
LTE | Cat 7 down, Cat-13 up | Cat-12 down, Cat 13 up |
Wireless | Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 | Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 |
The ISP inside the Helio G70 supports a single 48MP camera (Quad Bayer) or two 16MP cams (the second could be ultra wide, tele, macro, whatever the maker fancies). Depth maps can be calculated in hardware and there is NeuroPilot for AI tasks (object and scene recognition, bokeh enhancement).
Besides the storage, another thing that may limit this chip’s use in mid-range models is the 1080p/60fps cap on video capture. Goodies like EIS and rolling shutter correction are on board, however.
The chipset has a modem capable of dual 4G VoLTE and 300Mbps downlink. Local connectivity is served by Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.
Chinese media claims that the MediaTek Helio G70 will be used in phones in the CNY 1,000 price segment (around $145/€130).

Helio P60 Vs Snapdragon 660
It is true that SNAPDRAGON processors are starting to drop in the market shares due to competition from Mediatek processors.. we are yet to see how long that will last. As for now, Mediatek Helio series is killing it when it comes to high performance...

lol no way dimensity 1000 will be for mid range phone, it's for flagship and we dont know if dimensity can compete with SD 865 or Kirin 990. The only info we know is it's 'better' than SD 765G (I never trust company benchmark anyway, just taking it w...
