- Now we know from the ps3/vita shop closing reversion that Sony responds very well to community uproar, petitions and backlash, we could do a petition to make the vita compatible with ps5 remote play. It's gotta be doable, it worked fine with ps4, even very late lifecycle games like valhalla.

For reasons unknown to the public (other than Sony being Sony), it’s been confirmed that the PS5 won’t feature remote play with the Playstation Vita.
If you were one of the people who were hoping to take their latest-gen gaming to the loo, I’m afraid you’re in for a rude awakening. And I don’t mean the continued toilet paper shortages of 2020.
PS Remote Play is a free to use feature on all PS4 and PS5 consoles. All you need is: Your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition, PS4 or PS4 Pro 1 connected to your home wired broadband network. A compatible device — also connected to your network. PS Remote Play A PS5 console or PS4 console is required for Remote Play. With Remote Play, you can control your PlayStation® console remotely wherever you have a high-speed internet connection. Using the PS Remote Play app, you can control your PlayStation®5 console or PlayStation®4 console from a device in a different location. PS5 will be using the latest video codecs for its streaming tech, which the Vita will not be compatible with. Remote Play is already available on iOS with plans to reach all latest Android devices as well. It's been name dropped by Sony as a big part of their streaming ambitions.
We kind of saw it coming, but a new update to the Remote Play app, as well as some other minor updates, gave the game up.

The most disappointing, but perhaps not surprising, thing about this is that it’s a totally arbitrary decision. Since all of the actual game stuff happens on the PS5, the Vita only needs to stream a video signal from the PS5 to itself.
The process is no different whether it’s running on a PS4, PS5 or PS25.
But of course, Sony could not pass up an opportunity to take a dump on Vita fans.
One more for the books, I guess.

Install the app
From Google Play™ or the App Store, download and install [PS Remote Play] on your mobile device. You can use the same app to connect to your PS5 console and PS4 console. You can also access Google Play™ or the App Store using the following 2D codes. You’ll only need to do these steps the first time you use the app.

Set up your PS5 console
Set up your PS5 console in the following ways. You’ll only need to do this the first time you use Remote Play:
- From the home screen, select [Settings] > [System] > [Remote Play], and then turn on [Enable Remote Play].
- To start Remote Play while your PS5 console is in rest mode, select [Settings] > [System] > [Power Saving] > [Features Available in Rest Mode]. Then select the checkboxes for [Stay Connected to the Internet] and [Enable Turning on PS5 from Network].
Start Remote Play
You’ll take the following steps each time you connect to your PS5 console from your mobile device.
- 1.
- Turn on your PS5 console or put it into rest mode.
- 2.
- Launch [PS Remote Play] on your mobile device, and then select [Sign In to PSN].
- 3.
- Sign in with the same account that you use for your PS5 console.
- 4.
- Select [PS5].
The app searches for the PS5 console that you’ve signed in to using your account, and then connects to the console automatically. After it connects, the screen of your PS5 console displays on your mobile device and you can start using Remote Play. If multiple PS5 consoles are found, select the console that you’d like to use.
From the second time onwards, you’ll be able to select the console that you connected to previously.
- If it’s been more than 60 days since you last logged into your PS5 console, you won’t be able to connect to it. Before trying to connect remotely from outside your home, check that your device connects properly while you are near your PS5 console.
- If the app can’t find the device that you’d like to connect, or if you can’t use Remote Play, see “When Remote Play is not available”.
Remote Play controls
If you tap on the screen of your mobile device during Remote Play, the controller buttons display.
If you’re using an Android™ smartphone or tablet, button and icon designs may vary.
If you select [options], the control panel displays.
You can perform the following actions from the control panel:

You can change settings such as screen orientation and how the controller buttons display. The control panel is also where you’ll quit Remote Play. - Create button
